I have been teaching for many years as both an Artist and a Professor starting with Chaffey College in Alta Loma, then for CSU San Bernadino and Scripps College, in Claremont CA. Currently I teach Ceramics, Sculpture and Painting here at Yuba College. Beyond academic teaching, I have also led many workshops on topics that include; kiln building, primitive/low fire and raku technique, clay sculpture and throwing technique. I have taught for the Mendocino Art Center and various other schools and Art Centers nationally. I received my MFA in Ceramics and Sculpture from the Claremont Graduate University in 1992. In 1995, I developed and ran a ceramics instruction studio for the "Angels Gate" Center for the Arts in San Pedro, California Called the "Pottery D" that I ran for three years. I have also traveled extensively to Japan, China and Korea to work with international potters abroad, to lecture and survey both historical and contemporary ceramic art and as well, to exhibit work internationally. In 1991, I attended the IWCAT (International Workshop of Ceramic Art in Tokoname, Japan) as a graduate student. Later I returned to work with The national treasure Ryoji Koie. I returned a third time to work with Master potters Kojie Sugie and Masaki Matsumoto, surveying methods of woodfiring and to attend the "Macsabal Woodfire Festival" in Osan, Korea as an invited artist in 2007. Currently my work is in several Contemporary Collections which include the Fred Marer Collection, at Scripps College, California, the IWCAT Collection in Tokoname, Japan and the in Macsabal Museum Collection in Osan, Korea.
