Counselor, Clear Lake Campus
Lake County Campus, ,

My name is Tara Williams, and I am both a counselor and a professor at the Lake County Campus of WCC.  My pronouns are she, her, hers, and ella.  I absolutely love my career as a counselor, where I have the privilege of supporting students in reaching their educational and career goals.  I was a first-generation college student who really needed support and guidance through the process of earning a degree and I made it my mission in life to serve in this capacity for any student who has such a dream.

My educational background is likely relatable to many of my students at the Lake County Campus; I graduated from high school in Lake County and, despite being terrified, went on to college at CSU Chico where, despite many bumps in the road, I was the first in my family to earn a bachelor's degree.  I earned my B.A. in Sociology in 1994 and worked as an instructor for adults with developmental disabilities and then as a social worker with pregnant and parenting teens.  My career path in social work led me to want to be a counselor in schools, so I pursued my M.A. in Counseling from Sonoma State, where I also worked as a M.E.A.P. (Migrant Education Advisor Program) Advisor.  After earning my master's degree in 2000, my career as a bilingual counselor began in Anderson Valley in Mendocino County.  Since then, I have worked as a counselor in Twin Falls, Idaho, Asmara, Eritrea (in the Horn of Africa), and Lahore, Pakistan.  After working my way around the world, I am happy to have returned home to Lake County where I can serve my community.  I am here to empower, support, and encourage students to meet all of their potential and reach all of their goals.  Call us at 707-995-7900 to schedule a time for us to meet.  I genuinely look forward to meeting you and would feel honored to serve as your co-pilot in your education and career journey.
