Your Instructor: Michael Papin
I have been teaching math and statistics full-time at the Lake County Campus of Woodland Community College for more than 18 years. I received my B.A. and M.A. in mathematics from San Diego State University long ago. My wife and I live in Mendocino County with our many dogs.
The best way to contact me is by email at mpapin@yccd.edu. I check my email daily (including weekends) so you can usually expect a response within 24 hours.
Some lofty thoughts:
"Practical, scientific, philosophical, and artistic problems have caused men to investigate mathematics. But there is one other motive which is as strong as any of these - the search for beauty. Mathematics is an art, and as such affords the pleasures which all the arts afford." - Morris Kline
"This, therefore, is Mathematics: she reminds you of the invisible forms of the soul; she gives life to her own discoveries; she awakens the mind and purifies the intellect; she brings to light our intrinsic ideas; she abolishes oblivion and ignorance which are ours by birth ..." - Proclus Diadochus
