Woodland Social Sciences - Part-time
Woodland Community College, ,

I started my education at a community college never really daring to dream of anything more. As a first generation college student from a low income background and an older non traditional student, finally earning an A.A. degree was a goal I was determined to meet. However, I had a mentor here at WCC, a professor who showed me I could do more, who believed in me and who pushed me towards more than I ever thought I could be. And now...

I am a lecturer at UC Davis in the Chicana/o Studies Department and teach part time here at WCC. I attended WCC from 2009-2011 and graduated with one of the first Sociology degrees WCC awarded. I transfered to UC Davis where I finished my undergrad in Sociology in 2013 and went on to the Master program in Community and Regional Development, graduating in 2015. I continued my education in a PhD program at the School of Education at UC Davis where I graduated in 2020.

Dream big and get help with your dreams. Find a mentor who will guide and support you. Believe in yourself, in your abilities and know that you belong in college.
