Woodland English/SS - Part-time
Woodland Community College, ,

My name is Matt Tittle and I am an English instructor with Woodland Community College.  I've taught composition and literature for 2 years at WCC, 13 years at Sacramento City College, 3 years at American River College, and 9 years at Sierra College.  I earned a Bachelor's in Journalism and a Master's in English. My world is dictated through words, but I do have a strong fondness for numbers, especially when they don't make me look too stupid.

I've lived in many places and entertain an intuitive drive to move.  I guess I'd like to discover as much as possible about our planet while I'm able...slowly, but purposefully. If given a choice, I'd rather hike than fly.  There's perhaps nothing more rejuvenating to me than going to the ocean and mountains with my wife and pups.  Nature draws me to itwhether through the sounds, smells, and sights stored in my memory from childhood trips with family, or through certain writers where the natural world takes form in language.  Still, directly experiencing nature has no substitute!  Camping is a pedestrian activity for most.  But, really, to spend significant time surrounded by the complex beauty of the unspoiled natural world, relatively free from human interaction, is a wonder.

Of course, I love writing and literature.  It's my job and my passion to make my life's work in these areas.  It's also my job to assist you on your way to becoming proficient with literacy, as this area of learning will be vital to your academic success.  And, who knows? Perhaps literacy, in all its forms, may also prove to be invaluable to your personal and professional life beyond college.  Please feel free to lean on me for all your coursework ambitions.
