John Bovee
Adjunct Professor, Political Science
John Bovee received his B.A. degree from California State University, Bakersfield in 1979 where he graduated magna cum laude and was class valedictorian. He spent the next 43 years of his life in government and politics at the local, state, and national levels. He has been Chief of Staff for three different members of the California Legislature, been a local and state lobbyist for 7 years, and run his own political consulting firm for 23 years.
Bovee received his M.A. in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Political Science from Rutgers University in 2017. His dissertation, "The Unintended Consequences of Direct Democracy in California" won Capstone with Honors and has been cited over 300 times since publication.
He teaches Political Science 1 - Introduction to American Government at Woodland Community College.
